The Wargame Developments handbook - updated

I'm pleased to announce that an updated version of the WD handbook can now be viewed on the WD website.

The handbook includes a history of WD, along with descriptions of many different types of wargames and an extensive glossary of wargaming and WD specific terms.

The Houffalize Panther

Rescued from a local river a couple of years after the war, this Panther has been on display next to the Hotel De Postes for most of its life. Recently it has received a thorough rebuild and fresh new paint.  Now in a more elevated position, it also benefits from a roof which should help to preserve it.

Marnach, Luxembourg

I’m on a visit to the Ardennes, combining museums, memorials and walking the ground. Marnach was the unlikely scene of an early encounter between German troops from 2 Panzer Division and the US 28 ‘Keystone’ Division. I’ll let the photos do the talking.

Pteria yet again

This is a battle we’ve fought several times with Command & Colours.  There’s an earlier blog post here.

The photos are in no particular order - thanks as usual to Russell and Pete for permission to use their pictures.
King Cyrus. At various points in the game referred to as ‘Cyrus the a bit rubbish’, ‘Cyrus the reasonably adequate’ and finally ‘Cyrus the potentially really quite good really’. He won in the end though.

The players hanging on my every word. At least that’s what I told myself.

Pointy sticks and pointy ships

For our most recent games day we managed no fewer than three games!  We began with a Command and Colours Ancient game - a refresher for some players and an introduction for others.

This was followed by a C&C Medieval game - new to all except me.

Finally John treated us to an ancient naval game. I’ll do posts on each game in the fullness of time.
