Airfix Typhoon - part 2 - in the buff
The Typhoon has now seen the dangerous end of a paintbrush. After sanding down the filler I had applied earlier, the underside got a coat of pale blue-grey. As revealed in my earlier post, I have decided to finish this model in the colours of 451 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force based in Egypt Vallejo ‘Buff’ with a camouflage overpaint of Vallejo

Surely Stakhanov would be building Yaks or Sturmoviks?
Sadly the tiffy never served in North Africa.
451 Sqn's aircraft in 1943 were as follows:
May 41 Hurricane I
Jan 43 Hurricane IIC
Mar 43 Spitfire VC
Dec 43 Spitfire IX
Wg Cdr Luddite
Apparently 451 had 3 Typhoons on strength for evaluation during the latter part of 1943. There is no record of them being used in combat.
